Our Team

Farhana Begum

Solicitor & FFRAP Lead

In 2014, moved by the experience of court users in the Family Justice System, Farhana took steps to assist parents without a lawyer through the provision of legal advice, representation, or support at the University of Law (previously known as The College of Law). She trained corporate and commercial delegates having set up the family arm of the Trainee Litigation Programme. Farhana’s successful implementation of the first of its kind university advice and representation court desk, and the first to involve the corporate and commercial sector on the family court floor continues to operate at the Family Court sitting in East London. Since then, Farhana designed and directed a variation of support and student desks to better support LIPs only to conclude that there is no alternative to legal representation. This inspired Farhana to return to the traditional mode of access to family justice under FFRAP by training corporate and commercial solicitors and barristers to offer pro bono (free) family law advice and representation or support to LIPs under Farhana’s supervision.

By way of background, Farhana read law at King’s College London, trained at McCormacks Law LLP before specialising in Children’s Law as a Family Law Solicitor.
